A copy of one of these images, owned by Tootsie Kindberg, has handwritten on back: "Charles Rue (as Texaco's Ed Winn of radio fame). Fire truck made by Charles Rue had wood burning stove, anchor, telephone and other things that didn't actually work. This was in the parade the day the Roosevelt Bridge opened. 1/9/34 The Fire Chief of Stuart at that time was Roscoe Bell (Russ Bell). His son, six year old Stauffer, rode in the parade with Charles Rue in this fire engine. - Charles Rue and Irving Fulton" -

Published in the Stuart News (9 Nov 1950) in advertisement for the reopening of Hayes Motor Company after the 1949 hurricane destroyed the former structure. Caption with photograph reads "Our new hurricane proof building, completed last Spring, on the site where the destructive blow of August, 1949, completely demolished our former garage. With modern showrooms, service and repair facilities, Hayes Motor Co. is 'brand new with 1950.'" -
