  • An account of the experiences of the Frazier family's arrival in Martin County in 1888, by Margarette Frazier. Published in the Stuart Messenger, 16 May 1918 with the title "Stories of early Stuart settlers, coming down the Indian River on the Frost Line, Reuben Russel Frazier in 1888, the first school, the first church, the first teacher and the first preacher."

    Margarette Melissa Dufour (1851–1929), her husband Reuben Russell Frazier (1846–1905) and their three children came to the area in 1888 with a load of lumber and household goods, a horse and wagon, forty chickens, and three beehives.

    The article switches from third person, referring to Margarette Frazier as "Mrs. Frazier" in the first half, then switching to first person, in her voice.

  • Self portrait of Flora Frazier Dyer (1878-1937) with camera. The Frazier family moved to Martin County in 1887 when Flora was nine years old. She later married Harry Dyer and had several children. Dyer was a photographer, ran the Dyer Dry Goods Store while her husband was undergoing treatments for tuberculosis in New Mexico, and grew and sold roses commercially (her business was named Virginia Gardens).
  • Flora Frazier Dyer (1878-1937) moved to Martin County with her family in 1887 when she was nine years old. She later married Harry Armstrong Dyer and had several children. Flora was a photographer and painter. She ran the Dyer Dry Goods Store while her husband was undergoing treatments for tuberculosis in New Mexico. Flora also started her own commercial plant business, growing and shipping roses. Her business was named Virginia Gardens, after her youngest daughter.
