In celebration of the 1925 establishment of Martin County, the town of Stuart hosted a series of events on 28 and 29 January 1926, including a large parade.

Artist Richard Haas, 1978
Artist and architect, Richard Haas. The New York artist was invited to Stuart to present a plan for revitalizing downtown Stuart in 1978. Haas presented his plan at the Elliott Museum in April of 1978. During his presentation, Haas revealed a sketch of downtown which required little construction but instead relied on painting large murals in his architectural illusionary style on the sides of downtown buildings.
