  • Martin Downs residential community developers (Southern Realty Group) expanded Palm City Park and added a baseball field. The baseball field was dedicated in July 1986.
  • The "Villa" on the Castle Hill property. Capt. Benjamin Hogg, a sailing merchant, established a sawmill at Sewall's Point (Waveland) on property purchased in 1885. The new settlement included a school and general store and sat on a high bluff overlooking the St. Lucie River was known as 'Hogg's Hill.' Benjamin Hogg sold the 'Hogg Hill' property in the mid-1920s, but with the economy crash took the land back in about 1926. The property now included a four story pink castle, claimed to be built for Queen Marie of Romania. Retired Manhattan Judge Edward Swann and wife Margaret purchased the estate in 1927, remodeling the Castle into a Georgian mansion. They also built a concrete block two-story, five bedroom Italian Villa with tin barrel roof by 1930, several garages, seven windmills and other structures around the estate, called Castle Hill. The property was inherited by a niece, Doris Fuller Childs (1896-1986) who torn down the Castle in 1956 and lived in the Villa
