Skid marks on a street, Winter 1935
Item
Title
Skid marks on a street, Winter 1935
Description
One in a series of photos taken that feature tire skid marks at an intersection between two paved streets. A possible measuring device placed on the skid mark appears in several of the photos and these shots may have been taken after completing a fast test drive or car race. Another explanation for the photos could pertain to the car accident Hugh Willoughby III was involved in the March of 1935. According to the Palm Beach Post and Stuart News, Willoughby was driving a vehicle that hit a pedestrian on Broadway and 57th Street in West Palm Beach, causing significant injuries to the woman he hit. Willoughby was charged with reckless driving for this incident.
