Description

Group of young women in black skirts, holding bouquets, contestants in the Miss Music competition. Handwritten on back: Margie Parsons, Juanita Baker, Jane Langberg, Betty Knickerbocker, Helen Wilson, Janice Arbogast (Miss Music 1949), Sara Roberts, Alice Crane, Betsy Ball (one missing); Jerry Ann Smite (seated).

Sponsored by the Stuart Jaycee-Ettes, the Miss Music contest (c. 1949-1950) included young women, each sponsored by a local organization or business, who raised funds for the benefit of the Martin County High School band's spring trip to a state contest. The public "voted" by donating a penny for each vote.
