Item

Title

Christian Science Society Church, c. 1943

Description

Mailed postcard with image of the Christian Science Society Church in Stuart with many people gathered in front of the church. Two dirt piles in front of the church, so the photo may have been taken during construction or around the time the church opened in 1942. Back of card postmarked on April 2, 1943. Postcard was mailed to Mr. Dumond Merwin and dated April 2, 1942 (incorrect year written?). Message on the postcard reads "My dear Dumond- Have not been able to see you to tell you we have a load of news papers for you. Will be glad to get rid of them as soon as possible. Sincerely, David S. G… [cannot read last name]." Arnold Dumond "Duke" Merwin lived most of his life at Edenlawn Plantation on Indian River Drive in Eden (Jensen Beach).
