Group of 22 Hungarian refugees after arriving to Stuart on train on the night of 27 January 1957. According to the Stuart News (31 Jan 1957), the refugees were welcomed at the train station by Fr. George McKay. and Fr. Dominic Gullay.
The group was aided by the National Catholic Welfare Conference and were provided with jobs and homes. The newspaper also provides details about several of the refugees' experiences under Soviet occupation and during the uprising.
