Description

Martin County Deputy Sheriff badge, with name "Mrs. M.R. McCord". Mary "Patsy" Reilley McCord (1883-1953) was secretary to the Palm Beach County Land Company in 1910. After serving as the county agent for the state of Florida for auto tagging in the 1930s, she became secretary to Sheriff Christensen. In 1944, when Sheriff Hancock took office, she became a deputy, chiefly working in the office. She resigned the position in 1949. The 1950 federal census records her as a stenographer with the county commission.
