The Bailey Boat Company, led by W.L. Bailey and his family, was established on Indian River Drive in Jensen Beach in 1949. Later that year, the hurricane destroyed the business; by 1952 the boat yard was called one of the "most outstanding yachting enterprises in South Florida" by the Stuart News.
