Description

Fourth of July festivities for 1960 included midget car or go cart races held on Flagler Avenue. The trio seen here might be taking part in "powder puff" division race. According to the Stuart News (7 Jul 1960), "The 'Popsters Club' of Martin County's Midget Speedway gave a sizable crowd an hour's thrills Monday morning as they turned the north end of Flagler Avenue into a miniature race track." The Triangle Bar, the Carlton Hotel, and several other buildings in the background.
