Description

Cigar smoking man holding fishing pole and standing next to large fish. Handwritten on back: BW Mulford (Pt Salerno) Benjamin W. Mulford (1868-1926) was a builder of Port Salerno and a prominent developer of Palm Beach county.

Benjamin Watkins Mulford (1868-1926), a real estate broker from Minneapolis, purchased about 6,000 acres in 1910 in the Martin County area and developed the St. Lucie Inlet Farms and the town of Salerno. Mulford also built the Salerno Inn, a large city dock, and established the Salerno Development Company by 1917, and was involved in advocating for drainage, roads, schools, and other important town developments, even after moving to West Palm Beach in 1923. He died in 1926 at 58.
