Description
Published in the Stuart News (31 Mar 1955) with caption reading "New Melita's Drive-In on A1A, Jensen Beach. This attractive new restaurant structure was built by Turner and Thompson, local contractors, for John G. Abbott, former Columbus, Ohio, restaurant man. Grand opening of the new drive-in restaurant is scheduled Saturday." Description of Melitas in the newspaper highlighted its curb service, late hours and "modern fountain." The restaurant offered short order meals and specialized in double decker burgers. Melita's was replaced by Johnnie's Bar & Grill in 1958.
