Published in the Stuart News (17 March 1955) with the caption: "Principal John C. Gray presents to Pat Berry (center) a gold medal emblematic of her having won the annual Martin County High School spelling bee in the school auditorium Friday morning. At left is Larry Branch who received a silver medal as runner-up. Next to Miss Berry is Jane Cornelius who won a bronze medal for third place. At right is Don J. Romanello who directed the contest in which 30 students in the four MCHS classes participated. The contest is sponsored by the G. and C. Merriam Company of Springfield, Mass."
