Title

Description

View along Highway US 1. showing an automobile having crashed into Casey's restaurant. Similar photo, published in the Stuart News (14 July 1955) has caption: "An unexpected guest at Casey's restaurant at 6:18 last Thursday evening was this late model car driven by Douglas W. Martin of Roanoke, Va. Headed south, Martin was forced off the road when he started to pass another southbound car which gave a 'turn' signal. T.G. Casey, owner of the restaurant on U.S. 1 south of town, saw the car coming, grabbed a waitress and ran with her to the far end of the building. Four guests had just left a table in direct line of impact and a young girl had walked across in the path of the car seconds before it hit. No one was injured."

Multiple signs in view along the road include the Golden Gate Park development, a motel, directions to the airport, and Standard Oil Co.
