Swearing in ceremony for the St. Lucie River Power Squadron officers inducted at Stuart's Yacht and Country Club in March 1979. The new commander, Donald B. Powell conducts the oath with his hand raised on the far left. The other officers are Donald S. Till, executive officer; Walter M. Maron, educational officer; Gerald L. Stahl, administrative officer; William D. Monroe, secretary.
The United States Power Squadrons (USPS) or America's Boating Club, first founded in 1914, continues to serve as an educational organization that teaches maritime safety courses throughout the country. The St. Lucie River Power Squadron was first chartered in 1970.
