Boy with small dog, c. 1954

Item

Title

Boy with small dog, c. 1954

Description

Young boy holds a chihuahua dog and a few dollar bills while a girl next to him pets the dog. Car with loudspeakers attached to the roof behind the boy and a man with a clipboard speaks into a microphone. This scene may be part of a dog show contest or perhaps the boy won the dog as a Fishing Rodeo prize. According to the Stuart News (22 Jul 1954), "Kenneth Oliveros, Miami, vacationing with his parents in Jensen Beach, caught the 'mostest' fish of all--13. He was awarded a Chihuahua dog, a plaque, $3 in cash and fishing gear."
