Whiticar fleet fish display portrait, 1954

Description

Group portrait next to fish hanging on a Whiticar fleet display stand. Published in the Stuart News (15 June 1954) with the caption "Mr. and Mrs. Richard M. Prewitt and son, Ricky, of Washington are shown with Capt. G.C. Whiticar (left kneeling) following a successful day's excursion in the Gulf Stream here last week. Prewitt is administrative assistant to the manager of the domestic distribution department of the Chamber of Commerce of the United States. The family triumphantly returned with three 45-lb. amberjack, one 46-lb. amberjack, two 8-lb. amberjack, one 23 1/2 lb. barracuda, one 20-lb. barracuda, eleven 15-lb. bonita, one 14-lb. grouper, five spanish mackerel and 15 blue runners. Ricky, 10, had the thrill of his lifetime and was credited with the 46-lb. amberjack. The day's total catch was estimated at 500 lbs."
