Description

View from Akron Avenue, looking towards the railroad tracks and Flagler Ave. in downtown Stuart. State Paint & Supplies in left foreground (Carlton Building) and the burned down remains of the Commodore Hotel in the background on the right. A major fire broke out in the Commodore Hotel on January 17, 1959. The City of Stuart purchased the property after the fire, demolished the ruins of the building and replaced it with a parking lot by early 1960.
