Osceola Avenue building razed, 1961

Description

Sign attached to front of building reads "This building to be torn down by Stuart Services as contributed to Paint Up Clean Up campaign." Similar photo published in the Stuart News (12 Oct 1961) with the caption "Down goes a landmark. This pioneer business building at 228 Osceola Street, Stuart, is being razed by Kenneth (I do everything) Stimmell of Stuart Services as his bit in the current beautification drive. Stimmell called up Studstill & Hollenbeck, West Palm Beach realtors, trustees for the owners, and they accepted his offer to tear down and remove the pieces - 'for free.'" The building was formerly M. F. Longbottom's Barber Shop.
