Lyle gun maintenance, 1964

Description

Steve Bishop, a caretaker at the House of Refuge Museum, adjust a Lyle gun cannon, which shoots lines or ropes, and is used in lifesaving. A captain's wheel hangs above the cannon and a captain's wheel leans against the wall. A portrait of Capt. Hugh Willoughby also hangs on the wall nearby.
