Description
Teachers and students watch as a tree is planted. Published in the Stuart News (22 Jan 1953) with the caption: "Stuart Elementary School Principal T.L. Crook holds a young Cuban pink trumpet tree (Tabebuia pallida) while Robert Mothershed prepares the hole wherein to plant it during exercises to observe Florida Arbor Day Friday afternoon at the school. The exercise was sponsored by the Stuart Garden Club, and president Mrs. Howard W. Neall (left) and Mrs. Harry Swinglehurst of the club stand beside Crook observing the operation while a host of school students surround them for observance of the day."
