Miller Flower Farm, 1963
Item
Title
Miller Flower Farm, 1963
Description
Two men stand in front of covered flower beds at Miller's Flower Farm. The man on the right is likely Ed Miller (1902-1981), the owner of the farm and the man on the left wears a Miller's Flower Farm shirt with the name "Dan" printed or sewn on it. A red van with "Oodles and Oodles of Pompons and Poodles" written on its side is parked behind the men. According to the Stuart News (6 July 1961), Ed Miller and his wife, Louise, bred poodles in addition to their flower business. In 1961, the Millers built a 3,000 square foot "Poodle Pagoda" on their property, completely devoted to their dogs. The pagoda included a training space, covered runway, and lodging for over forty dogs. The slogan for the "Poodle Pagoda" was "Oodles and Oodles of Pompons and Poodles."
