Item

Title

Tour of Langford-Evinrude estate, 1961

Description

Ralph Evinrude takes several women on a tour of his and Frances Langford's Jensen Beach property in a small electric car. According to the Stuart News (30 Mar 1961), the Langford-Evinrude estate was opened to the public for the first time on April 9, 1961 for an event to benefit the Women's Auxiliary of the Martin Memorial Hospital. In addition to the estate tours, the event included walking tours of the property, autograph signings by Frances Langford, refreshment booths at the Polynesian Hut and pool, the sale of flowers and fruit, and several door prizes: an Evinrude three-horsepower motor, a poodle, and a "money orchard" corsage.
