Item

Title

Bessey Creek area, c. 1962

Subject

Description

View over the Bessey Creek area, specifically the property of District 4 County Commissioner, Edward Miller. Miller advocated for the county to build two bridges, one on the south shore of Bessey Creek to his island and a north bridge over the canal on Murphy Road (Mapp Rd.) Miller ended up building his own north bridge when the country rejected his proposal. The county re-built the bridge on west Murphy Road (Mapp Rd.) in 1963. In 1964, a bridge was built south of Murphy Road (Mapp Rd.). Both low-lying bridges were removed in 1995.
