Three men in naval uniforms. Published in Alice Luckhardt's book, Stuart, with the caption: "Witham family members who served during World War II included, from left to right, son Paul Homer Witham, a Navy fighter pilot who was shot down and killed in the Aleutian Islands on August 8, 1942; his father, Paul Witham, who was a Navy chief warrant officer for 30 years; and son Philip Ross Witham who was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941." The Stuart airfield, enlarged and named McArthur Field, was renamed Witham field in 1943 in honor of Paul Homer Witham.
