Portrait of Navy sailors on ship. Notes for this photo read "Old Navy Photos." Hugh Willoughby Jr. enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve in 1917 and earned the rank of Lieutenant (junior grade) by 1919. This photo was likely taken during his training. While the photo is somewhat blurry, Hugh Willoughby Jr. appears to be standing in the center of the photo. The portrait indeed appears off-centered, so it may be that Willoughby set a timer on the camera to capture the photo with himself in it. -
