    Thomas J. Britt (1862-1939) was the bridge tender for the Florida East Coast railway bridge between Jensen and Stuart between 1894 and 1909, and also was a barber. After living in Key Metaenabe, they returned to grow citrus in the Britt settlement in the 1920s.
