Charles H. Rue, 1946
Charles H. Rue and his father moved to Stuart in 1924 and purchased Rue's Sweet Shop. He worked as manager or salesman for several businesses through the years including Texaco, Pontiac, Firestone, Luckhardt Construction, and the Stuart News. He was also an experienced carpenter, and designed and constructed a watchtower at Hobe Sound beach during WWII. He also served on the Martin County School Board in the 1930s and was significant in forming the high school and municipal bands. -
