  • Background history about Martin County Hospital and information about the facility. Includes descriptions and images of the facilities, a description of the "colored section," portraits of the board of directors and medical staff of three physicians, and suggested language for donations through a will. Poor photocopy.

  • During the 1990s, the Martin County Probation office occupied the building that once housed the first church in Stuart (built in 1895). St. Mary's Episcopal Church used the building from 1932 to 1950.

    After St. Mary's Church moved to a new structure in 1950, the building was used by several businesses, including the probation office seen here, which helped facilitate court mandated community service projects for local residents convicted of misdemeanors. In 2026, the building is used as an art studio called The 1895 Church of StuArt.

  • Group of men pose in front of a Midet Air Lines plane. Article in the Stuart News (7 April 1955) explains that 14 prominent local residents boarded a chartered Midet Air Lines passenger plane at Witham Field to confer with Governor LeRoy Collins regarding impediments to building a bridge from Stuart to Hutchinson Island. Individuals in the photo are Willard M. Kiplinger, Andrew D. Burkey, Robert T. Bair, Theodore Houk, Lester M. Combs, Dan W. Fagen, C.B. Arbogast, Ralph W. Hartman Jr., Arthur M. Dehon, O.C. Smith, Evans Crary, Harry F. Dyer, Ernest Tyner, and Ed M. Higbee.

    Incorporated in 1938 in New York State as Midet Aviation, Midet provided service between Long Island and Manhattan and West Palm Beach and the Bahamas. In the early 1950s, Midet was headquartered in West Palm Beach and provided service between West Palm/Miami and the Bahamas. Midet merged into Mackey Air Lines in 1956.
