Several stores and full parking lot at Grant Plaza, including Pantry Pride grocery store, Joy Shoes, a Tropigas showroom and Eckerd Drugstore. The shopping center opened in February of 1972 at the corner of US 1 & Monterey Road and in 1976 became part of Stuart Square Shopping Center. -

The Stuart Women's Club and Public Library building which opened in 1934 on Albany Avenue. The Woman's Club used this building until 1958. -

Elizabeth Stapleton Stokes served as the president of the Stuart Woman's Club from 1954 to 1956 and the first president of the Martin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. In 1953, Elizabeth Stapleton married Charles A. Lintell. Poor copy. -
Librarian Edna Coutant stamps library book, 1953
Edna Coutant and her pioneer family moved to Potsdam (Stuart) in 1897. Coutant began teaching when she was around 13 years old. After retiring from teaching in 1947, Coutant also served as a librarian and ran the Woman's Club Public Library. She also played a role in planning and organizing Martin County's first Public Library.
