During the 1990s, the Martin County Probation office occupied the building that once housed the first church in Stuart (built in 1895). St. Mary's Episcopal Church used the building from 1932 to 1950.
After St. Mary's Church moved to a new structure in 1950, the building was used by several businesses, including the probation office seen here, which helped facilitate court mandated community service projects for local residents convicted of misdemeanors. In 2026, the building is used as an art studio called The 1895 Church of StuArt.
