Part of the Society of Forty Men and Eight Horses initiation. The society was founded in 1920, is an honor society for the American Legion, and members must be honorably discharged veterans and invited to join. The ceremony to initiate a new member was known as a "wreck."

Portrait of a young Roy Baker in uniform. Roy C. Baker was an army MP during WWII, then worked with the Delray Beach Police Dept. He joined the Stuart police force in November 1945 and by December was the Stuart Chief of Police. In 1952 he was elected Sheriff of Martin County, a position he held until 1972. Poor copy. -
