Flora was a photographer and painter. She ran the Dyer Dry Goods Store while her husband was undergoing treatments for tuberculosis in New Mexico. Flora also started her own commercial plant business, growing and shipping roses. Her business was named Virginia Gardens, after her youngest daughter.</text>

Flora Frazier Dyer (1878-1937) photographed her 3 year old daughter, Virginia, knitting and enclosed the photo and a note along with the knitted items for a soldier. The story is that the photograph was used in publicity instead of being sent to a soldier.</text>

He worked for the Armour Fertilizer Company, first traveling regularly to Miami on horseback, then on motorcycle. In 1914, Dyer opened a dry goods store in Stuart (which remained in operation for 68 years), and served as mayor from 1928 to 1931. In his later years, he spent much of his time in New Mexico, seeking  cures for his tuberculosis.</text>
