Katherine and Edgar Harmer on White City bridge, 1907
Katherine and Edgar Harmer on the White City bridge over the North Fork of St. Lucie River. Edgar Harmer (1868-1920) and wife Katherine settled in Sewall's Point around 1891. He was killed in a road accident near the Sewall's Point crossroads.Tags Piers & wharves -
Capt. Henry E. Sewall house on Sewall's Point pier, 1907
The house of Capt. Henry E. Sewall and Abbie Sewall, built next to the post office dock, with Harriet Warnock walking on the dock.
Captain Sewall and his wife Abbie lived in the house until 1910. It was then moved to Willoughby Creek in Port Sewall where it stood 90 years. In 2006, the Martin County Board of County Commissioners saved the building from demolition and it was moved to Indian RiverSide Park. In 2009, the Historic Preservation Board placed the building on the Martin County Register of Historic Landmarks. After years of restoration by Martin County, this historic treasure was open to the public in November 2012.Tags Dwellings -
