<text>Negatives and prints in photoalbums, taken between 1904 and 1909; negatives from 1919. Includes travel photos of several vacation trips, including those to Sewall's Point, Florida, which have been scanned and are included here. Also a few family portraits from 1909. Rudolph Tietig, who later became a very successful architect, married Margaret Lendrum Andrews (1881-1974) in May 1905, and many of these photos were taken during their engagement trip to visit her family in Sewall's Point in 1905 and visits in 1907 and 1919. Includes images of picnics, oyster bakes, playing tennis, boating in the Palm Beach Washington's Birthday Regatta, as well as photographs of the houses and landscapes on Sewall's Point.

Emilie Tietig Kaiper (1882-1971) is noted being the creator of the albums on accompanying documents, and she may possibly the primary photographer.

Collection includes two accessions: a box of negatives (marked "Parlin") donated by Agnes Tietig Parlin (daughter of Rudolph and Margaret Andrews); and a box with three photoalbums (PA1 includes a 1905 trip, PA2 includes a 1907 trip, and PA3 includes duplicate images of PA2, all marked 1908), four books of negatives in paper envelopes (many with empty sleeves, some stuck to paper envelope), and another box containing negatives (some from the albums, some possibly copy negatives) donated by Margaret Parlin O'Malley (daughter of Agnes Parlin). Donation of at least part of the collections may have been facilitated by Sandra Thurlow. All negatives and prints are duplicated images.

The Tietig family lived in Cincinnati, Ohio. John Arnold Tietig Sr. (1845-1912) established a successful cigar company, Arnold Tietig & Sons, which was later taken over by his eldest son, Arnold Tietig Jr. (1873-1952). He and his wife Sophie Thoke Tietig (1849-1917) had three other children: August Tietig (1875-1935), Rudolph Tietig Sr. (1877-1958), and Emilie Tietig Kaiper (1882-1971).

Albert Lewis Andrews (1842-1922) was a steel manufacturer in northern Kentucky. He and wife Agnes Lendrum Gaff Andrews (1852-1918) lived in Palmetto Hall on Sewall's Point, near Stuart, Florida, built in 1904. The estate included the main house, a house for servants, a guesthouse, a caretaker's house, a bunkhouse, and a boathouse. The house was sold in about 1923 to Calvin David Paxson (1870-1925) and burned down in 1930. The Andrews had four children, Joseph Gaff Andrews (1876-1934), Albert Keller Andrews (1879-1946), Margaret Lendrum Andrews Tietig (1881-1974), Frank M. Andrews (1885-1943), and Grace Virginia Andrews Dunlap (1893-1959). </text>

</text>

</text>

</text>

</text>

</text>

</text>

</text>

</text>

</text>
