Homer Stephenson Witham (1855-1926) and wife Kate McPherson Witham (1867-1958). Published in Sandra Thurlow's book, Stuart on the St. Lucie (p. 103), with the caption: "Homer and Kate McPherson Witham joined the Robert McPhersons in Start in 1897. Homer, like most of his neighbors, grew pineapples, but unlike his neighbors, he was a Republican. His precise handwriting is preserved in the 1910 census he enumerated. Witham Field is named in homer of Kate and Homer's grandson who was killed in World War II."
