Published in the Stuart News (22 Dec 1955) with the following caption: "Yule Display At Slocum Shop. Mrs. Blanche Slocum poses with the attractive Christmas display that she set up in the window of her floral shop of St. Lucie Ave. across from the St. Lucie Hotel."
The Slocum Flower Shop, opened around 1949 at 210 St. Lucie Avenue. It was the first floral store in town. Blanche Slocum also opened the first children's store (in the Lyric Theater building) in Stuart in 1946. By the early 1960s, Slocum sold the floral shop and started working in real estate.
