Located a few hundred yards from the north end of the bridge across the St. Lucie River on Federal Highway, it was originally Speedy's Garage, built in about 1923 by Harry Miles Speedy. A small marina and a decorative lighthouse were added soon after. After being remodeled in 1933, it became Speedy's Inn.
