  • "Alligator Joe," Warren Frazee (1873-1915) operated an attraction near the gilded hotels of Palm Beach from the late 1890s until 1915. He also opened another attraction in Miami in 1906 and toured northern cities.
  • In 1960s, documents were found in the attic of recently deceased Mary Chandler, Salerno, concerning espionage and other activities during the U.S. Civil War. The documents belonged to Albert B. Chandler (1840-1923) who developed and ciphers for transmitting confidential messages as the confidential telegrapher for Lincoln. Mary Chandler's husband, Frank Chandler was A.B. Chandler's nephew, but it is unknown how they came to have possession of the papers or where they were located after 1960.     -Portrait of Perle Sylvester Thomas (1883-1927). In 1927, Thomas was murdered by U.S. Border Patrol Inspectors when they were conducting illegal search stops, saying they were looking for illegal immigrants. The agents were in an unmarked car, flagging down motorists on Dixie Highway at night. After Thomas did not stop, they followed him and fired into the car. Three of federal agents were arrested immediately and found guilty after a trial. Fred Brownlee of Hobe Sound, was given the death penalty (commuted to 8 years in prison in 1934 and he was released in 1938) and two others found guilty of second degree murder and given life in prison (they were paroled in 1930).

  • The Palm City Store. Published in A Pictorial History of Palm City, Florida, written by Sandra Thurlow and Jacqui Thurlow-Lippisch (p. 89) with the following caption: "The Palm City Store, at the foot of the bridge at Palmetto Street and Cornell Avenue, was the community's primary commercial establishment for many years."
  • Martin Downs residential community developers (Southern Realty Group) expanded Palm City Park and added a baseball field. The baseball field was dedicated in July 1986.
  • New Palm City Post Office building, which opened in April 1986 at the corner of Mapp Road and Martin Highway (SR 714) and operated until 2004.
  • Second Palm City Post Office. The original post office building was damaged by the 1949 hurricane. Vermelle Fulton Baker served as postmaster at the time and the front part of her home became the new Palm City Post Office. Around 1956, the building was moved to Mapp Road. By the 1980s, the small building was no longer sufficient for the growing Palm City population and a new, larger building opened at the corner of Mapp Road and Martin Highway (SR 714) in April 1986.
