Pink Pony Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge, c. 1955
The Pink Pony restaurant and cocktail lounge, located at the intersection of Highway US 1 and Indian Street (three miles south of Stuart at the time). Owners, Stanley Mistura and William Bass, who also owned the Blue Goose Inn and restaurant in Stuart contracted Herbey G. Gass to design and build the restaurant, which opened around May 1955.
The Pink Pony remained a popular destination through the 1960s but was sold in 1977 to two chefs that renovated the building and reopened the restaurant as Le Pavilion, which served French cuisine. Then in the 1980s, the building was torn down to make way for the Wedgewood Commons shopping center. -

Has 24 cottages, apartments, good trailer facilities, private dock, plenty boats. Accommodations are modern and well kept. Camp is located at the famous mile long free fishing bridge. Rates reasonable year round." -

Plantation House at Edenlawn, Jensen Beach, c. 1950
Drawing of the Plantation House at Edenlawn in Jensen Beach, Florida. The Eden (later called Edenlawn) community was founded in 1880s and was initially used for large pineapple plantations and later became commercial nurseries and eventually a vacation resort area in the 1950s and 1960s. Planters Security Bank, c. 1905
Planters Security Bank in Jensen. The bank was founded around 1894 to serve pineapple farmers in the Eden area. The bank failed around 1908, leaving many depositors empty handed until a decree from the state comptroller awarded 14 and half percent dividends to be paid out to those that lost money, but this was not until 1929.
