The hotel was redecorated and a pier was added and a second "grand opening" occurred in November 1929 as the "Pelican Hotel" under the management of Drew King. The hotel hosted many beauty pageants, weddings, and other community events. After being sold in 1969, the Pelican Hotel continued, although its business steadily declined.
