Atlantic Court Apartments, c. 1945
Atlantic Court Apartments in Stuart. Originally named the El Bit-Lor Apartments, this building was built by Bert A. Bittan and John E. Taylor and opened in 1926. These nineteen lavishly built apartments hosted many a fancy party and was touted as one of the finest apartment buildings on the East Coast. The building was repossessed in 1936 by the loan holder, Atlantic Bank, and renamed the Atlantic Court Apartments following the 1933 hurricane as well as the end of the 1920s land boom. A sidewalk with a fire hydrant and a street light as well as several parked vehicles and green space are visible near the apartments.
