Copyright statement in the bottom right corner reads "Copyrighted Photograph 1908 by W. H. Martin, Ottawa, Kan." Photographer William H. "Dad" Martin used photomontage and trick photography to make exaggerated images of fruits and vegetables and started selling them as postcards, thus establishing the exaggeration postcard genre in 1908. His postcards became popular and were often plagiarized. Martin ended up selling the company in 1912 to Williams S. Fallis and William H. Jones who renamed it the North American Post Card Company.</text>
