Meeko family with catch, 1953
Family with fish displayed on a board labeled "F.L. Powell's Diner & Motel; sign "The Trouter" on right. Published in the Stuart News (20 Aug 1953, p. 5) with the caption: "Dr. and Mrs. Robert Meeko and children pose with their catches [sic] August 8 catches off St. Lucie Inlet. Out with Capt. Ronnie Hill on the Miss Jensen, the visitors got these two sailfish measuring 6 ft. 9 in. (left) and 6 ft. 11 in. The oldest youngster, Barbara, 9, (left) hooked the sail next to her but her father had to finish hauling it in. The next day Dr. Meeko was out with Captain Hill on the Trouter and boated a number of tarpon, the heaviest weighing 27 lbs." -
