Victory Hotel and Restaurant, c. 1943
Front view of The Victory Hotel and Restaurant, which was previously the Peacock Arcade on Flagler Avenue. The building was remodeled and opened as The Victory Hotel in March 1942. Image captured before the Marine Room & Beach Club opened in 1944. The Victory Hotel later became the Toric Hotel in December 1950, the Tropic Hotel in March 1951, and the Commodore Hotel in September 1956. It burnt down in January 1959. -
Rice's Hotel & Restaurant, c. 1953
The building, previously the Rob Roy Hotel owned by the Roebuck family, was purchased by William H. Rice in 1945. Rice remodeled then operated the establishment, including a market on the first floor of the building (opened in 1949) and a nearby service station. Signs on the building: "Rice Hotel," "Rice's Restaurant It's never too late for breakfast," "Rice Hotel Restaurant," "Rice's Market," and "Groceries." In 1956, he sold it to Don A. O'Kelley and James L. Scannell who changed the name to "The Coffee House." -

The Abundance statue and Haney Circle in downtown Stuart. Coffee & Sweets Co. in the background. Coffee & Sweets Co. operated at 7 East Osceola Street from around 1994 through the early 2000s. As of 2026, a Thai and sushi restaurant occupies the building. In the background on the left is Damiano's Under a Hot Tin Roof, a restaurant serving transcontinental cuisine. As of 2026, the building at 18 Seminole Street is occupied by an Italian bistro. -
Haney Circle, c. 1995
The Abundance statue and Haney Circle in downtown Stuart. Abundance was moved from Memorial Park to Haney Circle in 1991. The Jolly Sailor pub and restaurant in view behind the statue. Duffy's Sport Grill replaced The Jolly Sailor in 2003 and as of 2026, continues to occupy the building at this location. -
