Necessity Shop, c. 1915
Small building, possibly an outhouse, with sign "The Necessity Shop" on top and "News Stand" at bottom. Published in Alice Luckhardt's book Stuart: Images of America (2016) with the caption: "Susan Kitching's Necessity Shop was actually located in Broster Kitching's post office building. The shop's sign was often removed and placed in other locations, especially at Halloween, by the local young people."

Crowd of adults and children stand on and around the front porch of the one room schoolhouse in Palm City. Outhouse, water pump, and horse and carriage also in view. The building also functioned as a Sunday school. The structure was built around 1914 and was located on Loop Road, near what became Zarrella Farm. -

This is possibly an outhouse with discarded signs displayed. The Necessity Shop, owned by Susan Kitching, was actually located within Broster Kitching's post office building.
