Mayor Ernst Tyner congratulates James Friend, past exalted ruler of Stuart-Jensen Elks Lodge, and admires the top trophy won by the local group in the all-state ritualistic contest at Orlando recently. The photo was taken in front of the M. P. Nelson real estate office, headquarters for the current 'On-to-California' drive." The Elks “On to California” drive was held to raise funds for traveling to California and competing in the national Elk ritualistic contest. -

Phoebe Cleveland assisted county clerk, J. R. Pomeroy, for many years and served as acting clerk of court following Pomeroy's death in 1949 until Cleveland lost the election to her deputy clerk of court, Dorothy Pierce in November of 1950.
