Published in Sandra Thurlow's book, Stuart on the St. Lucie (p. 33), with the caption "Ernie Lyons' love of the outdoors was instilled in him as a youngster during camping trips with his father. When he became a newspaper writer and editor, his understanding of nature and his ability to express himself simply and eloquently enable him to warn people of the degradation of our rivers and streams. He was an environmentalist long before the word was coined." -
