Toley Engebretsen Jr., c. 1980

Toley Alfred Engebretsen Jr. (1928-2023) followed in his charter boat captain father's footsteps and ran the Salerno Shipyard until selling it in 1971. He then worked at Grumman and retired in 1989.

Addison Alexander Whiticar holding a pipe, c. 1965

Ad Whiticar arrived in Martin County in about 1917 and was an early charter boat captain, with a fleet of seven boats. His sons continued the Whiticar Boat business for many years.

Published in the Stuart News (29 Dec 1966). Incorrectly identified in the Florida Cracker Sampler as George Curtis Whiticar.
